"Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it." ~ Matthew 16:8 (NLT)

God took a Simon and gave him a new identity - Peter (The Rock). Even after Peter failed miserably - acting more like Jello - Jesus gently restored him by asking Peter if he loved Him and telling him to feed His sheep. I believe Jesus was saying, in essence, that they still had relationship and that He was entrusting Peter to continue His work in caring for others and leading them to salvation.

I spent way too much of my life sensing in my heart who God created me to be, but feeling disqualified because I didn't act like it at times ... because I, too, failed miserably. It wasn't until I looked forward and allowed God to restore me and my true identity that I could begin to walk in who He created me to be.

Who are you? The real you? The you inside that transcends your occupation, your marital status, your birth order, what you do in the community or at church? The YOU that was created for a purpose and makes others' lives better just by being there? If you're walking in that true identity - AWESOME!

If not - Isn't it time to reconnect with the true you .. the you that God named? Just like He did with Peter .. and with me .. He can remove your shame, restore relationship, and remind you who you are!
